Partnachklamm
A Natural Monument and Dark Olympic History
This tour in a nutshell
Join us on a guided day trip to the famous Partnachklamm (Partnach Gorge), where the roaring river Partnach has carved a deep gorge into the mountain. Learn how our ancestors used the wild river to transport logs – with dangerous techniques that will run a chill down your spine. Enjoy amazing glimpses of the surrounding mountains and after around 1h30 of hiking an excellent elevated lunch with a view awaits. The "Kaiserschmarrn" (a Bavarian / Austrian pancake desert) here is simply legendary.
On your way back, you will find out about darkest Olympic history in the ski stadium of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. It was here that the 1936 Olympic Games were held under Hitler with the world applauding.
Please note that this hike includes a continuous ascent of around 30 minutes and – unlike most of our other tours – leads to a rather touristy spot!
