FAQ aka Must Know
Which fitness level is required for Easy Hikes?
Our Easy Hikes are mostly on easy terrain and don’t include longer ascents (unless stated otherwise). Therefore, no specific fitness level or surefootedness is required (again, unless stated otherwise), but you should be in good enough shape to manage the elevation gain and walking time stated in the individual tour description. As all our tours are private, you don't have to worry about the pace, though. We will always adjust based on our guests' needs.
If you have any concerns about your fitness level, please contact us before booking a tour. We are happy to discuss your personal situation!
Which fitness level is required for Mid-level Hikes?
Our Mid-level Hikes include a more or less continuous ascent between 400 and 700 metres. The average speed uphill is around 250 to 350 metres per hour. So you will walk uphill for a significant amount of time (see tour descriptions for the elevation gain of each tour). Therefore, you should have a good fitness level and no health concerns (especially regarding your cardio fitness). If you are not used to uphill walking, it will definitely be challenging!
If you have any concerns about your fitness level, please contact us before booking a tour. We are happy to discuss your personal situation!
Which fitness level is required for Winter Hikes?
Winter Hikes have different levels – they range from simple walks to Mid-level Hikes. So please check the respective description.

What if the weather isn't good?
Our tours go ahead – rain or shine. Due to the weather conditions, we may have to opt for a different hiking destination at short notice, however. Kindly check your e-mail the night before your tour. If you haven't heard from us by 7 pm, the tour goes ahead as planned. Otherwise, we will send you all the details regarding the new plan. All our tours are equally beautiful, so don't worry – you will enjoy the alternative tour just as much!
I want to bring my kids. What do I need to consider?
Kids are most welcome on our day trips and usually have a whale of a time! If your kids are 10 or older, you can just book the tour that you think is most suitable for you as a family. Up to two kids between 10 and 14 y/o are even included free of charge in your group ticket. Please count additional kids and older kids as extra guests in your booking.
Your kids are younger than 10? That's usually more than fine, but please drop us an email at hello@munich-wanderland.com before you book.
What is the difference between 1st and 2nd Class on the train?
The seating arrangements in both classes are similar. But 2nd Class can get crowded sometimes – especially during holidays and on weekends. 1st Class is in a separate area and mostly empty. It is a little more expensive but well worth it from our experience.
