Monastery, Mountains, Moor
Your Perfect Combination of Culture and Nature
This tour in a nutshell
Hike like a local on this circuit tour that starts at the famous Salesian Don Bosco Monastery of Benediktbeuern. This beautiful monastery with its lush gardens is nestled at the foot of the mountains. Learn about the baroque architecture of the monastery, explore its famous Baroque church and Rococo chapel and find out about the Salesians' work. The cosy tavern or beer-garden of the monastery will treat you to a traditional Bavarian white sausage breakfast (vegetarians also welcome!) before we start our three-hour hike through one of Europe's largest moors along a river to a scenic mountain lake.
This hiking day trip is perfect if you are a culture, nature and food lover. And if you like walking but prefer it flat. To top it off, you will learn about the culture of the region, its anecdotes and legends and of course the geology of the mountains along the way.
